July 21, 2021 5pm PSTs "Do you know how to regulate your own nervous system? Are you feeling anxiety, having trouble sleeping, suffering from PTS, feeling stuck in grief or stress? Come and learn a gentle and effective tool called TRE (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises) This past year and a half has been challenging for all of us. How resilient are you feeling? Come and Learn a new tool to release trauma, stress, and tension in the body. TRE® (Tension, Stress and Trauma Releasing Exercises) is an innovative series of simple exercises which assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma by inducing a gentle muscular shaking response called neurogenic tremors. This will be an introduction to TRE as well as an experiential class. Please position your camera and location so that I will be able to see your entire body laying down on a yoga mat as well as standing for the zoom. Please wear comfortable clothing and have water with you. I am looking forward to sharing this technique that has helped me to continue to heal from severe PTS and stress in my life." Energetic empowerments & attunements being offered remotely beginning on April 7th, 2021 6pm4/3/2021 The pandemic has passed its one year anniversary. Coping with the forced isolation it has imposed on us has been the most frequently cited reason for seeking therapy. There also have been many losses to grieve and come to terms with. It has been a very difficult time for all of us. For myself, I had experienced one of the most significant losses one can experience. A few weeks before the nation shut down, I lost my mother, following a prolonged decline in hospice. In addition to that, I was adjusting to living alone, having ended a relationship with my partner of several years. I was quarantining alone, which was quite a challenge. How did I get through that first year in quarantine? My way of coping with the pandemic has been to use it as an intentional "hermitage of the heart", a time to go inwards and attend to my spirit, to heal my heart. This problem turned out to be an opportunity and a blessing, for which I am grateful. I took life affirming remote courses in energy healing and spiritual transformation, which helped me heal and get through all the additional hardships that the pandemic brought. One of the most powerful tools for resilience and transformation I have come across has been contributing, being of service to others. Another has been becoming part of a community whose norms have been different from what I have seen in the media: one focused on unconditional positive regard for all of humanity, stewardship for the earth and all of its creatures, and a commitment to action to work towards personal and global transformation. I have had multiple opportunities to be of service to my local and global community, and am here sharing an upcoming offering. I am pleased to announce, as an Initiated Rite Giver, I will be joining others in offering the Nine Rites of the Munay-ki remotely. My role here will not be therapist or social worker, as this is more personal, more spiritual. In the Quechua language, “Munay” means universal love. “Ki” is from the Japanese word for energy. Together, these words mean energy of love. These rites have been passed down by the paqos, or wisdom keepers of the Q'ero tribe in the high Andes of Peru. These rites have been distilled and simplified for the people of the modern world. These energetic blessings of empowerment open the heart, balance the energy centers of the body, and help bring areas of your life back into balance. (This includes the relationship between the divine masculine and the divine feminine, an area of great interest for me). These medicine teachings have been gifted to the world by the Q'ero, as they believe the world is undergoing a dramatic time of change, the time of "turning over", and they believe the peoples of the western world have become separated from nature and must come back into "ayni" or right relationship with the earth for their survival. It was not created for any particular ethnic or religious group, but is for all people. My teacher Pima Fredy Quispe Singona said, "this is not my tradition, and it is for me. It is not your tradition, and it is for you." A portion of all proceeds is given to our indigenous mentors from the Nation of Q'ero in the region of Cusco, Peru. Led By Celia Blackwood & Initiated Rite Givers Q'ero Guest Teachers will attend whenever possible. Wednesdays 6:00pm-7:30pm MT-AZ starting on April 7th, 2021. Sessions will be held online via ZOOM. Link provided upon registration. Thursday, June 25th, 2020 3:30-4:30pm MST-AZ

What to Do If the Coronavirus Health Guidelines Are Triggering Your Anxiety or OCD- The Mighty3/17/2020 The Mighty
Elizabeth McIngvale Ph.D., LCSW The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified the ongoing worldwide outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) as a pandemic. COVID-19 is a new-to-humans viral strain in the coronavirus family that affects the lungs and respiratory system, causing symptoms like dry cough, fever and shortness of breath. In response, public health experts around the world have asked us to take action to prevent and limit the transmission of this disease. This may create unique challenges for those of us diagnosed with a mental health condition, especially OCD, anxiety and related disorders. We must work to balance what’s best for population health with what is best for our individual mental health. COVID-19 is causing anxiety, panic and unrest across the globe with new guidelines and recommendations being published and changed frequently. For people in the OCD and related disorders community, these guidelines might cause extra concern, anxiety and/or uncertainty. A lot of the guidelines aren’t specific or definitive, leaving a lot of space for OCD fears and anxiety behaviors to take over. For many of us living with a mental health condition, the current situation may be worsening or intensifying your symptoms. For people in treatment, specifically for OCD, the guidelines might feel contrary to what you have been working on with your treatment team. Below are some simple steps to reconcile what’s recommended for public health while maintaining our mental health: 1. Limit your news and updates to ONE verified, trusted source (such as the WHO if international, and the CDC if in the United States). 2. Put a time limit on how long you spend looking at this trusted source, including the number of times you consult them per day.
4. Give yourself permission to set a basic safety plan based on the recommendations of trusted health organizations, and do not add to it:
6. Take breaks and allow yourself to do things you enjoy. 7. Maintain your daily routines as much as possible, and take comfort in them. 8. If you are currently in treatment, stay in treatment and talk about COVID-19 with your provider and how it may be affecting you. If you are not currently in treatment, live with OCD and are experiencing increased symptoms, consider reaching out and getting connected to someone. The IOCDF’s Resource Directory is an excellent place to start, and you are welcome to call or email The Peace of Mind Foundation if you need help navigating it. Most importantly: Be kind to yourself in these extraordinary times. Below are some steps you should not do: in the midst of this pandemic: 1. Avoid the temptation to learn “everything” about COVID-19. 2. Do not ignore the guidelines from trusted health sources, regardless of whether or not they go against what you are trying to do in treatment. Work with your treatment team to bring your goals temporarily in line with the new normal we all live in. 3. Do not excessively wash your hands, as this may lead to injuring your skin and making it less protective against infection. Keep it to 20 seconds. 4. Don’t let “social distancing” rob you of your support networks — come up with a strategy to stay connected to others even if you can’t see them in person.
COVID-19 is real, but so is OCD and anxiety. Work hard and together with your provider to differentiate between guidelines and recommendations for COVID-19 and your anxiety/OCD. Guidelines and recommendations should be followed and are healthy during this time, OCD and anxiety rules and rituals are not. For those of us living with OCD this time often comes with heightened anxiety, symptoms and even confusion. Try to follow the guidelines above and remember to continue with your treatment, especially if you are noticing increased symptoms. Tele-therapy is often a viable therapy option if in-person meetings are not feasible currently. Remember, help and hope are always available. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (or PrEP) medications are prescription medications that people take daily to significantly reduce their risk of acquiring HIV through sex. PrEP can stop HIV from taking hold and spreading throughout the body. Two medications are FDA-approved for use as PrEP: TRUVADA and DESCOVY.
